Performance of AmplifierĪs the common emitter mode of connection is mostly adopted, let us first understand a few important terms with reference to this mode of connection. Hence it is observed that a change of 0.1v in the input gives a change of 5v in the output, which means the voltage level of the signal is amplified. The Quaestiones Convivales of Plutarch (46–120 AD) also report three ancient Muses (9.I4.2–4). They were called Melete or "Practice", Mneme or "Memory" and Aoide or "Song". Writers similarly disagree also concerning the number of the Muses for some say that there are three, and others that there are nine, but the number nine has prevailed since it rests upon the authority of the most distinguished men, such as Homer and Hesiod and others like them. In the first century BC, Diodorus Siculus cited Homer and Hesiod to the contrary, observing: In Thrace, a tradition of three original Muses persisted. Some ancient authorities regarded the Muses as of Thracian origin. The earliest known records of the Muses come from Boeotia (Boeotian muses). This connection with Apollo runs even deeper the Oracle of Delphi, the high priestess of the Temple of Apollo, lived on Mount Parnassus.Apollo and the Muses on Mount Parnassus, c. Apollo gave him a golden lyre and taught him to play, leading to Orpheus's later mythical exploits. In most accounts, he is the son of Calliope and Apollo, often considered the leader of the Muses. In Hesiod's account, the Muses lived on another mountain, Mount Helicon. The main Greek gods lived on Mount Olympus, but the Muses were said to live on Mount Parnassus, another large mountain in Greece. Many poets also wrote hymns and odes dedicated to the muses, like Hesiod's Theogony. Homer's Iliad begins with such an invocation ("Sing, Goddess, the rage of Peleus's son Achilles." in Lattimore's translation) as does the Odyssey. In Greek poetry, it was customary to invoke the muses at the start of an epic poem. Memory was important for the Muses because in ancient times, when writing was uncommon, poets had to carry their work in their memories. In the most popular account, they were the daughters of Zeus, lord of all gods, and Mnemosyne, the goddess of memory. Vans’ roots as a skate brand have made it popular with the BMX crowd, which it markets to with such brand ambassadors as Gary Young and Dakota Roche. The inclusion of those pillars of a smart city contributes to the effectiveness and efficiency of necessary and useful city activities, processes, and services. This definition focuses on actors, technologies, and outcomes aimed at improving the city’s quality ( Cocchia et al., 2014). Accordingly, traditional urban development theories are connected with modernization in sustainable development to provide a comprehensive definition of a smart city ( Giffinger et al., 2007). The performance metrics of smart cities consist of the following pillars: smart people, smart economy, smart environment, smart mobility, smart living, and smart governance ( Zheng et al., 2020)– ( Elessawy and Zaidan, 2014). ![]() Yet, the definition of this concept in both academia and industry is lacking. Currently, more than 1,000 smart cities have been developed worldwide, mostly in Asia, Europe, and North America ( Zheng et al., 2020). Cities use intelligent technologies and innovative design to offer high-quality services to citizens and reconstruct urban spaces to enhance life quality. The smart city concept refers to the implementation of cutting-edge technologies aimed at social development and economic growth. In the last decades, the concept of a smart city has gained popularity owing to an emerging critical role of technology in cities’ urban sustainability plans, especially following the smart growth movement of the late 1990s ( Susanti et al., 2016) ( Harrison and Donnelly, 2011). ![]() This global and modernist approach is, however, controversial, which can be seen in the literature. The end goal is to develop smart cities using efficient solutions and to reshape urban development through megaprojects and centralized master planning. The energy sector has undergone a technology-driven transformation aimed at achieving smart and zero-carbon ecosystems initiated by the governments through intensive investments in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT)-based infrastructures. The study proposed a set of decision constructs aimed at allowing planners, engineers, and investors to have different alternatives at their disposal and select a feasible set of practical solutions for smart transformations accordingly. The decision constructs are explained from the perspective of a bottom-up approach ranging from preliminary inspections to economic investment planning. We also considered the premise of the “community” and the related social, technological, and economic aspects. In this study, we focused on the concept of smart and zero-carbon communities by using technology and infrastructure. This framework is based on multidisciplinary practices regarding the staged planning of smart communities and develops smart transformation concepts to enhance capacities toward the preservation, revitalization, livability, and sustainability of a community. This study aimed at proposing systematically a strategic framework for smart cities development by gradually transforming urban communities into smart-energy systems. Dynamic energy use and available on-site resources allow interaction with the surroundings and contribute to the key performance indicators of smart cities. Urban communities differ in their social, economic, and environmental characteristics, as well as in the approach to energy use.

Researchers have studied the brain and have classified sleep into 2 types: non-rapid eye movement (N) sleep and rapid eye movement (REM) sleep. This hormone regulates circadian rhythms, which are the 24-hour physiologic patterns of sleep and wakefulness. What happens in the brain when we sleep? Melatonin, a hormone secreted by the pineal gland in the brain, peaks in the late evening in response to changes in light and darkness. 3 These cases report difficulty initiating sleep, difficulty maintaining sleep, waking up too early, and, in some cases, non-restorative or poor quality sleep. 2 Globally, samples from different countries indicate a prevalence rate of insomnia of about 30% to 40% in the general population. One of the goals of Healthy People 2030 includes increasing the number of adults and young adults who get enough sleep. Americans spend an estimated $2 billion every year on sleep medications. The National Sleep Foundation Survey in the United States found that 75% of US adults have at least 1 symptom of a sleep disorder and 54% have 1 symptom of insomnia. Research on chemicals and receptors in the brain and their effects on sleep continue to be an area of growth in the development of new drugs for sleep disorders. Specific antidepressants, anticonvulsants, and atypical antipsychotics are used off label to manage insomnia. Benzodiazepines, Z drugs, melatonin receptor agonists, and orexin receptor antagonists are used in treating insomnia. Presently there are several prescription drug classes that can be used to increase sleep latency and/or sleep duration. Pharmacists also provide drug information to prescribers and guide appropriate prescription drug use. Pharmacists play a role in providing consumers with recommendations on OTC and herbal remedies to manage insomnia. If left untreated, sleep disorders such as insomnia can lead to other health problems. Sleep is a vital component for the human body. |
